If you have curly hair, then everyone comes to give you advice. While walking on the road, someone will advise you to apply fenugreek in your hair, an aunt in the metro will ask you to apply eggs and aloe vera on your hair regularly. Going to the parlor is a more difficult task.
The parlor didi is very disappointed seeing you. ‘Ma’am, have you never got your hair straightened? Get keratin done, good offer is going on here. How do you manage your hair? Does anyone else have such hair in your house?’. So many questions are thrown at you one after the other, even if you just went to get your eyebrows done!
I have always had a mother-in-law-bahu relationship with parlor didis. I never liked him, nor did I ever like him. Whether I lived in any city, Allahabad, Lucknow, Pune, Baleshwar or Delhi, how did I come across a similar parlor Didi who makes me smile just after seeing me. Who has always had problems with my skin, my weight and my curly hair.
Now what should the poor parlor sisters do? Sitting in the parlor all day, she would also get bored and she would also feel like cursing someone with her heart. Well, in the skin and body, she must have taken out the shortcomings of others too. But people with curly hair will rarely find them. That’s why she removes the anger of months on seeing me.
For years I’ve looked down on my curly hair. Whenever someone advised her to be ‘silky and straight’ like everyone else, I would also say with embarrassment, ‘Yes, my hair is very rough, what should I do, I will get it straightened’. But I was wrong, it was my fault to consider my hair worse than others. My hair is different and it is a part of my personality.
I was making another mistake. That mistake was to use the same products and techniques for your hair that are used for straight things. Then I entered a world of intelligence that changed the way I looked at my hair. This world is CG’s world, an underground world that taught me how to make my hair look better, more curly, and how to define curls.
What is CG Method?
CG Method means Curly Girl Method. I recently got in touch with this whole movement. When my cousin added me to such a group on Facebook, I felt as if I had reached the underworld. I learned so much about my curly hair in this one closed group and am still trying to learn more. The term was coined by British businessman Lauren Massey in 2001.
She wrote a book called ‘Curly Girl, The Handbook’. In this book, he showed a new world to curly haired girls and boys. The curls that I always used to be embarrassed about have now become a beautiful part of my personality. So if you have curly hair too, then stop using straight hair products and become a part of this CG world.
What are the types of curly hair
Many people think that curly hair is curly hair. But it is not so, curly hair also has 9 different strands. Wavy hair is also included in this list. These hairs are divided into 9 sections from 2a to 4c based on their curl and thickness. The care methods for all these hair types are also different.
what not to do with curly hair
You would be surprised to know that regular shampooing is not necessary for frizzy hair! Yes, we have been hearing since childhood that shampooing is necessary to keep the hair clean. But not so with curly hair. Regular shampooing makes curly hair very dry, which reduces their shine. Also, curly hair should never be combed after drying. Yes, I know if you have curly hair too, then your mother must have use onion oil and combed a lot on dry hair as a child. But this is the wrong way. This causes hair breakage and split ends.
Keep your curly hair away from all kinds of heat styling tools. Straighteners, hair dryers cause a lot of damage to curly hair. Along with this, chemical straightening and keratin also take away its natural shine and strength from curly hair.
Whenever you buy products for curly hair, read their ingredients carefully. Shampoo, conditioner, styling cream and gel, none should contain sulfates, silicones, waxes and alcohol. All these chemicals completely damage the curls of curly hair.
How Curly Hair Needs Shampoo and Conditioner
Before starting the CG method, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo. After that just wash your hair with conditioner like shampoo. Apply this conditioner on your scalp as well and clean it with your fingers. This method is called co-wash which means conditioner only wash.
Now apply a good amount of CG approved conditioner on the hair and leave it for 10 minutes. After that, detangle the hair knots with your fingers or a coarse-toothed comb.
After that wash the hair with cold water. Washing with cold water closes the hair cuticles and makes the product last longer.
Now apply leave-in conditioner only on wet hair. This conditioner should be such that it curls your hair and keeps those curls intact.
After that apply gel on the hair. This gel will give better definition to your curls. Now scrub the hair from bottom to top to make curls.
After applying the gel, do not touch the hair until it is 100% dry.
After drying, the hair will become dry, because a cast of gel has formed in it. Now, by tilting the head down, scrub the hair once again. That’s it, you have beautiful curls too!
Well it’s not a way, it’s just my way. Take the toy too and see which method suits your hair and how you get the curls of your dreams.
