Ilaaka is a 1989 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Aziz Sejawal and starring Raakhee, Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Amrita Singh, Om Puri, Dalip Tahil, Amrish Puri, and Dharmendra. The film was a commercial success, allowing both Mithun Chakraborty and Sanjay Dutt to increase their stardom.
The Story of the Film
Ilaaka tells the narrative of Raja, a man who is always fighting injustice and corruption. Inspector Suraj Verma backs him up. Their battle is with Naagar, the “Father of Evil,” who controls the entire Ilaaka (area).
Suraj’s true love is Neha. Naagar has a score to settle with Inspector Dharam Verma. Naagar begins his terrifying reign of terror.

Our Review of Ilaaka
Ilaaka is an action drama directed by Aziz Sezawal. The script is well-written, but the screenplay and direction fall short of expectations. Dialogue and action are both beneficial. Editing could have been more effective.
A Mafia Nagar controls “Purani Basti,” or the Old Colony (Amrish Puri). Raja (Mithun Chakraborty) is a liquor store owner and Bhima’s foster son (Om Puri).
Raja is in love with Vidya (Maduri Dixit). Suraj (Sanjay Dutt), the unemployed son of Dharam Verma (Dharmendra) and Mrs. Verma (Rakhee), aspires to be a police officer.
Dharam Singh, a brave police officer, was assassinated by unknown masked goons in the past. During the encounter, Suraj noticed Bhima, who was one of them.
Mrs. Verma insists on appointing a Commissioner, and Suraj is appointed as an Inspector in the same colony. Meanwhile, Suraj confronts Bhima at an event and is arrested.
This causes a rift between Raja and Suraj. Suraj joins forces with Nagar, and the storey progresses.
Mithun’s natural acting for his complex character is as usual. Amrish Puri performs admirably. Sanjay Dutt is a disappointment.
Amrita Singh is in good health. Madhuri features two songs and three scenes. Rakhee and Dharmendra take up less screen time but are just as effective.

Music and an amazing performance
Melodic music by Nadeem Shravan. Md. Aziz and Asha’s “Pyar Se Bhi Zyada” is a romantic track. Best Compositions: Kishore & Asha’s Devotional Song “Deva O Deva” and Mithun’s “Kal Se Chhod Dunga Main Sharab.”
